Eligibility and Application

 

 

Eligibility Criteria: Exchange visitors are selected through a competitive process, considering academic or professional merit and alignment with the program. 

Financial support: is provided through institutional funding, grants from home governments, personal funds, or sponsorship by the U.S. host institution. This funding covers travel, living expenses, and program fees, which typically range from $20,000 to $50,000 per year, depending on the program’s duration and location.


ORIENTATION

Pre-Arrival Orientation

Objective

Prepare participants for their journey to the U.S. by providing essential information about travel, visa compliance, and cultural adjustment.

Delivery Format

  • Online via Zoom or other video conferencing tools.
  • Accompanied by a downloadable guide and email follow-ups.

  1. Welcome and Program Overview (15 minutes)

    • Introduction to Golden Gate College and its mission.
    • Objectives of the J-1/F-1 programs.
    • Key contacts: Program officers, academic advisors, and emergency contacts.
  2. Visa and Immigration Compliance (20 minutes)

    • Overview of visa requirements (J-1 and F-1 specifics).
    • SEVIS registration instructions.
    • Important documents: DS-2019, I-20, and visa interview tips.
  3. Travel Preparation (20 minutes)

    • Booking flights and understanding arrival logistics.
    • Packing checklist: Essential items, prohibited items, and cultural appropriateness.

  4. Health Insurance and Medical Requirements (15 minutes)

This one-year program offers a thorough foundation in early childhood studies, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Participants will gain hands-on experience through field placements, bridging classroom learning with real-world applications.
